SCORING FOR A SET

To win a pro-set, you must win at least eight games. The games are scored starting at “love” (or zero) and go up to 40, but that’s just four points. From love, the first point is 15, then 30, then 40, then game point, which wins the game.

No-ad scoring If a game reaches 40-40, the receiving team decides whether to play a final point in the deuce or ad court, and the outcome of that point decides the game. Always say “Game point” to be clear when serving.

Here’s the point value for number of points in game:

Zero = Love

1 pt = 15

2 pt = 30

3 pt= 40

4 pt = Game

Always call your score before you serve, and always say your score first (“30 - 15”)

At ad you can say the following to announce the score.

“Ad In” = 40- 30 (You)

“Ad Out” = 30 - 40 (Opponent)

SCORING FOR A 10-POINT TIEBREAKER (first to 10 points wins, by two points)

1 pt = 1 point

2 pt = 2 points

3 pt = 3 points

and so on

The pro-set is decided by the player(s) that wins at least 10 points in the tiebreak and also has two points more than his/her opponent(s).

The team that served last to get to 8 - 8, serves second in the tie-breaker. No need to spin the racket. The server begins his/her service from the deuce court and serves one point. After the first point, the serve changes to the opponent’s first server. Thereafter, each player shall serve in rotation for two points, in the same order as the set. Switch sides when points add up to six points (3 -3, 6 -0...)
